We meet monthly at Jackson Heights in the basement program space, no registration required. Copies of each month's book are available to check out at the reference desk. Ages 14-18.
The book for May is "Persepolis: The Story of a Childhood." Marjane Satrapi depicts her childhood in 1980s Iran in this graphic memoir, growing up in the shadow of the Islamic Revolution. Unabashedly feminist and political, Persepolis is an exploration of this troubled time, focusing on women and political dissidents through the lens of Satrapi and her family.
