Join us for the Grand Opening of the new Far Rockaway Library, at 1637 Central Avenue, on Tuesday, July 30.

We are pleased to announce that the new Far Rockaway Library will have Sunday service and be open seven days a week.

Please Note: the Far Rockaway Temporary Location at 1003 Beach 20th Street will be permanently closed starting Saturday, July 20.

Due to restoration in the City budget, Sunday service will be available at Central Library (89-11 Merrick Boulevard in Jamaica) and Flushing Library (41-17 Main Street) starting July 14.

The hours will be from 12pm to 5pm.

Thanks to the full restoration of City funding, we are moving forward on reopening Bay Terrace Library (18-36 Bell Boulevard), Broadway Library (40-20 Broadway in Astoria), and Hillcrest Library (187-05 Union Turnpike) in the coming months.

We will be making accessibility improvements to Hunters Point Library (47-40 Center Boulevard) beginning in Summer 2024. We will keep you informed of the start date.

The construction, which is expected to take one year, will occur at night while the branch is closed and will not affect our operating hours.

During the day, while we are open, certain areas may be closed to the public. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
