Black History Month: The Contemporary African Kitchen with Chef Alexander Smalls

Celebrate Black History with award-winning chef and author James Beard, and ultimate renaissance man Alexander Smalls. Over the past three decades, Beard has traveled the world studying the cooking techniques and foodways of the African diaspora. He will also share how music, world travel, and his Low Country, South Carolina roots have inspired and influenced his life and restaurants. Chef Small talks about his new cookbook, The Contemporary African Kitchen: Home Cooking Recipes from the Leading Chefs of Africa, presents a vibrant library of home cooking recipes and texts contributed by 33 chefs, restaurateurs, caterers, cooks, and writers at the heart of Africa's food movement.
