Come celebrate the life of Benny Golson, one of the greatest jazz saxophone players and composers, who passed away in September of 2024. Valery Ponomarev, who played with Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers for many years, is Golson's friend and an acclaimed interpreter of his music. He and his band will play "I Remember Clifford" and many other Golson and Jazz Messengers' classics while recounting his experiences with the legendary musician. Mr. Ponomarev's life encompasses a narrow escape from the Soviet Union and a brilliant career on both sides of the Atlantic. He made albums on such labels as Reservoir, Roulette, Timeless, and Concord, and is the author of the books "On the Flip Side of Sound" and "University of Jazz Messengers."
