Time Out Of Joint: Conversations Among Formerly Incarcerated Writers
Queens Public Library, in partnership with the nonprofit Time Out of Joint, presents this program of spoken word and poetry readings by four NYC poets who discovered their voices while incarcerated.
Under the guidance of Artistic Director Shamah ShaRize, each poet will share their unique poetic journey, reflecting on their experiences and the resilience of the human spirit. There will also be a guest appearance by jazz and hip hop virtuoso bass player and composer Anthony Tidd, accompanying ShaRize.
We will also discuss the importance of capturing the oral histories of people who are currently and formerly incarcerated.
