Something Positive Inc. (SPI) presents Dance is Strong Magic, featuring the works of Dr. Pearl Primus and original choreography inspired by her example. The company will premiere Primus' solos of Strange Fruit, Hard Time Blues, Negro Speaks of Rivers, and an excerpt of The Wedding. SPI will also present a restaging of the company's signature work, Ancestral Chant, dedicated to Dr. Primus and SPI's founder, Cheryl Byron, and a new piece, Rasin (Roots), honoring the Voudon tradition of Haiti by company member Danielle Casimir.
