Children’s Library Discovery Center

The Children’s Library Discovery Center is a 14,000 square foot state-of-the-art, interactive library. First opened in 2011, this new concept in children’s libraries combines the excitement of an interactive museum with the vast resources of a public library. It offers hands-on, participatory exhibits and discovery labs designed to generate excitement in children for innovation and invention, and help inspire interest in books, reading, and life-long learning.

The Children’s Library Discovery Center serves a public audience of children ages 0-12 and their parents and caregivers by offering engaging activities that strengthen, enhance and encourage STEM capabilities.

Assignment Alerts

An assignment alert is intended to help ensure that materials needed for projects and assignments will be available at the local library for your students. By contacting the children’s librarian and giving at least two weeks' notice, you can arrange to have your branch ship in relevant material from other branches in the Queens system, and these materials will be put on reserve for you and your students. Please note that this program is most useful when the assignment is specific to the class and not citywide. If you would like to take advantage of our assignment alerts, please contact your local branch.
