Culture Connection: “Call Me Dancer” Hip-Hop DJ Dance Party and Documentary Film Screening

QPL Hip-Hop Coordinator Ralph McDaniels and Culture Connection co-present a Hip-Hop DJ dance party followed by a documentary film screening of Pip Gilmour and Leslie Shampaine’s inspirational “Call Me Dancer” (2023). This will be concluded by a live Q&A with the film’s international dance star Manish Chauhan in conversation with Ralph McDaniels. To summarize the film, Manish Chauhan is an athletic and gifted hip-hop dancer from Mumbai, whose working-class parents depend on their only son’s support. When he accidentally walks into an inner-city dance school and encounters a cantankerous 70-year-old Israeli ballet master, a hunger develops within him. Ambitious and passionate, Manish is determined to make it as a professional dancer, but the odds are stacked against him. This event is a banquet of Hip-Hop music, dance, art, documentary film, and raw Q&A not to be missed.
