Summary
During the early days of the American occupation of Japan, four Tokyo prostitutes live and work in the basement of a bombed-out building, governing themselves with a strict code of honor. Anyone who breaks the rules, especially the rule against sex without pay, is tortured and banished. The women's solidarity breaks down when they shelter a wounded balck marketeer, whom each wants to claim for herself.
