「台灣書櫃Taiwan Book Corner」開幕活動，施叔青、金翎開講！

English: Join us for an engaging author talk with acclaimed Taiwanese writer Shih Shu-Ching. An influential cultural figure in Taiwan and Hong Kong, she has resided in New York for over two decades. Discover her renowned “Taiwan Trilogy,” which offers a captivating journey through Taiwan’s history from the 1820s to 1947. Through intricate storytelling, Shih offers cultural insights and a woman’s perspective. This talk will be followed by a discussion about “The Boy from Clearwater,” a graphic novel from Taiwan (in English). The novel depicts the true story of Tsai Kun-lin (1930-2023). Explore Tsai’s life and Taiwan’s modern history. Join translator Lin King as she discusses the moving narrative, stunning artwork, and her translation process. Preceded by remarks from the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in New York, Queens Public Library and a special guest on the inauguration of Taiwan Book Corners for the month of May at Bayside, Flushing and Forest Hills.
Chinese: 在寫作中還鄉：作家施叔青講座(中文進行，現場提供中英口譯) 台灣作家施叔青為當代華語文壇代表人物，其史詩鉅作「台灣三部曲」系列小說：《行過洛津》、《風前塵埃》、《三世人》，融合了女性觀點和台灣角度，從精彩的小人物故事出發，展現跨國文化視野、深刻的歷史關懷與社會批判，為台灣百餘年來的時代興替，留下歷史的見證。施叔青長年旅居紐約，也將與讀者分享海外華文作家書寫的種種。 其次是 漫畫「來自清水的孩子」：勇敢小人物，純樸台灣史(英文進行) 《來自清水的孩子》是台灣第一部白色恐怖政治受難者傳記漫畫，內容橫跨蔡焜霖90年的生命歷程，從日本統治時期、1971年退出聯合國、1987年解除戒嚴到民主轉型，以小人物故事呈現近代台灣史的縮影。本系列作品運用華、台、日語3種語言創作，在台灣出版後翻譯成7種外語，並屢獲多國文學大獎。本場講座邀請到《來自清水的孩子》(The Boy from Clearwater)英文版譯者Lin King 金翎，向讀者分享漫畫中的動人故事、優雅畫風，以及有趣又充滿挑戰的翻譯心路歷程。 文學講座開始前，將由駐紐約台北經濟文化辦事處、皇后區公共圖書館和特別嘉賓致歡迎詞，介紹 5月份在貝賽、法拉盛和森林小丘分館舉辦的「台灣書櫃Taiwan Book Corner」展覽。
