Ridgewood Garden Reading Series: Abeer Hoque

Join us in the garden Thursdays in September for the Ridgewood Reading series. Each evening will include a featured reader as well as time for audience members to share their own work (writing, music, or otherwise). Come to share or come to listen! September 5th's featured reader is Abeer Hoque, a Nigerian-born, Bangladeshi, American writer and photographer. She likes saris on picnics, bitters, and road trips. Her books include "The Long Way Home," a linked collection of stories, poems, and photographs; "The Lovers and the Leavers"; and a memoir, "Olive Witch." She has won fellowships from the NEA, Queens Council on the Arts, NYFA, and the Fulbright Foundation. Abeer also holds BS and MA degrees from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business, and an MFA in writing from the University of San Francisco. See more at olivewitch.com. This program is sponsored by the Friends of Ridgewood Library.
