Next Step Forward: G.E.D. Guidance & Workforce Skills
G.E.D. & Job Readiness is a guidance and support program designed to help out-of-school teens explore pathways toward earning their G.E.D. While the Teen Center does not provide direct test preparation, staff work closely with participants to connect them with the appropriate Queens Public Library division and external resources that specialize in G.E.D. support.
Teens receive assistance with understanding the enrollment process, identifying eligibility requirements, and accessing available services. Staff also provide encouragement, goal-setting support, and referrals to educational and workforce programs that align with each teen’s interests and needs.
In addition, the program focuses on job readiness skills such as resume development, interview preparation, workplace expectations, and professional communication. This dual approach ensures teens are supported both academically and professionally as they work toward long-term success.
