Haitian Heritage Month: Haitian Folkloric Dance

In this workshop, participants will explore various Haitian folkloric dances in relation to the theme of liberation. The dances include Petwo—a form connected to Haiti’s revolutionary history; Ibo—a dance of resistance representing the tribe of the same name; and Nago—a dynamic warrior dance. Participants will learn how the energy, movement, and stories within these traditions can be applied to contemporary struggles for liberation. No prior dance experience is required. The workshop can be taught in Kreyòl or offered bilingually upon request.
