    An expansion to Arverne Library is coming in 2027!

    The expansion will feature:
    4,600 Square Feet of New Space
    A Large Multi-Purpose Meeting Room
    A Community Room
    New Restrooms
    Solar Panels and Skylight to maximize natural light
    Elevated Design to Increase Resiliency and Protection from future storms and flooding

    The library will remain open for most of the construction.

  • Astoria

    Astoria is closed for renovations.

    Mobile Library service is available outside Astoria Library on Mondays from 10am to 5pm (except holidays). 

    The comprehensive renovations of the library will include a new dedicated children’s room, adult and teen areas, a multi-purpose room, and a 24/7 automated exterior book return, as well as an elevator and stairway, making the building fully ADA accessible. 

    We expect to reopen the library in Summer 2029.

    We are excited to announce that the future location of Court Square Library will be at the 5PointzLIC residential complex, at 22-44 Jackson Avenue in Long Island City.

    The project is in design, and we expect the construction process that follows to take approximately two years.

  • Hunters Point

    We will be making accessibility improvements to Hunters Point Library beginning Monday, September 9, 2024.

    The construction, which is expected to take one year, will occur at night while the branch is closed and will not affect our operating hours.

    During the day, while we are open, certain areas may be closed to the public. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

  • Lefrak City

    Mobile Library service for the Lefrak City community is currently provided on 57th Avenue or on 99th Street, on Fridays from 10am to 5pm (except holidays). 

    We are excited to announce that the future location of Lefrak City Library will be at 95-15 Horace Harding Expressway. 

    Construction of the space has begun, and we anticipate the opening of the new branch in the summer of 2026.

  • Queensboro Hill

    Queensboro Hill is closed for replacement of the building's HVAC system.

    Mobile Library service is available outside Queensboro Hill Library on Thursdays from 10am-5pm (except holidays).

    The new, three-story library will feature children’s, teen, and adult areas, multi-purpose rooms, an elevator, and a green roof.

    We expect to reopen the library in Winter 2029-2030.
