Community Information

Queens Community Resources Database

The Queens Community Resources Database combines two online directories. The Directory of Health & Human Services Agencies provides information on local and national agencies that provide service to the residents of Queens, such as social service organizations, support groups, day care programs, and senior citizen centers. The Directory of Immigrant-serving Agencies contains information on agencies offering low-cost or free social services to immigrants in over 50 languages. The directory presently lists over 200 agencies, primarily those agencies offering services within Queens. However, agencies outside Queens are listed when an ethnic or language group of significant size is not specifically targeted by a Queens agency. The services of the agencies outside Queens are still accessible from Queens by telephone, mail or online communication.

¡Bienvenidos a Queens!

¡Bienvenidos a Queens! is an online directory for Spanish-speakers that provides community information in Spanish on health, immigration issues, housing, English classes and other topics useful for new immigrants. Maintained and updated by Queens Library's New Americans Program, this service is supported by Federal Library Services and Technology Act funds, awarded to The New York State Library by the Federal Institute of Museum and Library Services. Coverage is updated quarterly.

Queens & NYC Websites

The Queens & NYC Websites section connects you directly to various city agencies, including health and human services. For information about your Queens community, be sure to visit the 'Community Information' section. All Internet links selected are maintained by the Queens Library's Internet Resources Team. Coverage is updated monthly.

Queens Demographics

The Demographics section is a one-stop center where you can obtain the most popular and interesting demographic data, including age, ancestry, birth, language, educational attainment, income, etc. for the borough of Queens, the most ethnically diverse county in the United States.

Queens Library HealthLink

The Queens Library HealthLink is a collaborative initiative of Queens Library, the American Cancer Society, the Queens Cancer Center of Queens Hospital and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. It is a five-year federally funded research project based in Queens Library that will explore the potential to partner with libraries as a vehicle for community health outreach to fight cancer. The goal of the Queens Library HealthLink is to increase access to cancer screening and care among medically underserved communities in Queens. The Queens Library HealthLink will build on the already strong relationships that QBPL has within the neighborhoods it serves.
